About

Laura Knight Cobb has walked between many worlds—educator and specialist, real estate agent and business owner, poet and lyricist. A native of Traverse City and Elk Rapids, she proudly serves Northern Michigan as an agent at Real Estate One, specializing in Commercial, Residential, Investment, and Luxury Waterfront transactions. She assists her clients through many of life’s challenges and changes, always aiming to make every transaction seamless.

She has successfully owned and operated a 31-unit resort on the sandy shores of East Grand Traverse Bay. For nearly three decades, Laura was an educator across continents, serving children in communities in Michigan, Florida, Texas, England, Switzerland, and Scotland, teaching grades K-8. She has a master’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Curriculum and Instruction. She also served as a certified Reading Recovery specialist and has led numerous in-service workshops and seminars statewide. Her Honorary Fulbright Award reflects a lifetime devoted to excellence in learning and leadership. Laura served as an educator for Elk Rapids Public Schools for 18 years.

Her passion is writing, and her words arise from her curiosity about nature, philosophy, and history, weaving stories, poems, and lyrics that resonate with the soul. As a fellow of the National Writing Project and a published contributor to the American Anthology of Poetry, she perceives life through the lens of empowerment and hope. In 2018, Laura published “The Lesson of the Lark”, a moving historical fiction book celebrating the Centennial Celebration of the Nineteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. In 2019, she was honored as a featured author in the National Writers Series, Author Next Door. In 2021, Laura was a featured speaker at the National Women’s History Museum’s Summer Educators Institute held at George Washington University to honor the Centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment. In harmony with her husband, composer Jeffrey Cobb, together, they brought to life numerous works that have reached national audiences, such as The Promise of Peace, which echoed through Carnegie Hall in 2017, and Lullaby for Sleep and Life Everlasting, tender hymns of rest and resurrection. In 2023, their composition, The Journey, was honored with the Phoenix Boys Choir’s inaugural New Works Rising Choral Composition Award. Their commissioned pieces, Shine (for the Michigan Composers Consortium) and Circle of the Seasons (for The Little Traverse Bay Choral Society), reflect a reverence for beauty, transformation, and light.

Within 6 years as an agent, she has been ranked in the top 1% of agents nationwide. She is a motivated and diligent professional with excellent communication and negotiation skills. As a lifelong learner, Laura is currently pursuing a second career in Real Estate Appraisal.  This will further complement her knowledge of the complexities of the market, with a keen insight that other agents may not understand. Laura is eager to assist you with all your real estate ventures, whether they be Commercial, Residential, Investment, or Luxury waterfront transactions.
